Weekend Wedding

Weekend Wedding

Well summer is coming to a close and that means so is wedding season.  Do you ever notice that it seems that some summers are filled with weddings and others have virtually none?  Maybe it’s just me.  As someone who officiates weddings, my summers are always filled with weddings, but I am finding there are fewer and fewer weddings that I get to simply attend as a guest.

This August we had a friends wedding in Alberta (the next province to the east of us – for those that don’t know Canadian geography).  We decided to make a road trip of it and drive through the Rocky Mountains with the kids.  Make sure to scroll down to the bottom to see what I wore to the wedding!

The drive is incredible and the views of the mountains are stunning.  If you ever have a chance to do the drive from Vancouver to Alberta you need to take it.  We started out early in the morning and made a stop in Lake Louise.

Hanging out at Lake Louise (smokey from the wild fires burning in the area) – and yup those are my kids!

Our final stop (and wedding location) was the Medicine Hat area.  Hampton Inn and Suites by Hilton is always our go-to hotel when we are travelling.  They always have great rooms, amazing breakfasts, and the best staff – and the Hampton Inn and Suites in Medicine Hat is no exception.

We had a two queen suite that was the perfect size for our family of 4.  The room had tons of space and also had a pull out couch.  The staff at the hotel was so kind and left some treats in our room for the kids.  The hotel’s attention to detail is noticeable from the time you walk through the door.

My favourite part of the stay (other than the super comfortable bed) was the breakfasts!  Hampton breakfasts are out of this world – and INCLUDED with your stay!  Bacon, sausages, frittatas, fresh waffles, and more!

Our kids’ favourite part of the stay was without a doubt the waterslide at the pool!

Thanks SO much Hampton Inn and Suites Medicine Hat for having us on our wedding road trip!

The wedding was an outdoor, backyard wedding on the groom’s family farm so I opted to keep things a little more on the casual side.  For the wedding, I went with a pair of great shorts from Banana Republic with some brown loafers, and an “air” tie 🙂
